Built for small UK employers
When you run a small business, payroll is one more job that has to be right every single month. A mistake means unhappy staff, HMRC penalties or pension problems. Buffalo Payroll takes the whole job off your desk for a clear price per payslip, so you only pay for the people you actually employ.
What you get
- Unlimited payslips at £5.50 + VAT each, minimum £16.50 + VAT per month
- Starters, leavers, P45s and new starter checklists
- All PAYE returns filed with HMRC, plus a clear monthly summary of what you owe
- Sick pay, maternity, paternity and other statutory payments
- Online payslips through a secure cloud portal
- Full pension administration for £25 + VAT per month
- Phone and email support from people who know your payroll
How a typical month works
- You send us changes: hours, overtime, new starters, leavers or pay rises, by email or through the portal.
- We process the payroll and send you a summary to check before anything is finalised.
- Payslips go out and we submit everything to HMRC and your pension provider.
- You pay your staff and HMRC using the figures we provide.
Hiring for the first time?
If you're about to take on your first employee, we can help from day one, including registering as an employer with HMRC and setting up your workplace pension. Our first employee payroll checklist walks you through what's needed.
Keeping up with the rules
Small employers are hit hardest by change because there's no in-house payroll team to absorb it. For 2026/27 the employer National Insurance rate is 15% above £5,000 a year, the Employment Allowance is £10,500, and Statutory Sick Pay now starts from the first day of sickness. We apply every change automatically. See our 2026/27 payroll rates guide.
