Buffalo Payroll is an outsourced payroll bureau based in Manchester. We take the whole payroll process off your hands: calculating pay, deducting tax and National Insurance correctly, reporting to HMRC in real time, running your workplace pension and getting payslips to your team. You send us the hours, changes and starters each pay period; we do the rest and send you a clear summary of what to pay and when.
- Gross-to-net processing including overtime, bonuses, commission, allowances and salary sacrifice.
- PAYE, National Insurance and RTI: Full Payment Submissions on or before pay day and Employer Payment Summaries where needed.
- Statutory payments: SSP, SMP, SPP, ShPP and SAP calculated and reclaimed where you're entitled.
- Deductions: student and postgraduate loans, attachment of earnings orders and court orders.
- Pension auto-enrolment: assessments, letters, contributions and provider submissions.
- Starters and leavers: new starter checklists, P45s and final pay.
- Year-end: P60s for every employee and final submissions to HMRC.
- CIS and P11Ds for construction businesses and employers who provide benefits.
- HMRC liaison: we deal with PAYE queries and notices on your behalf.
- Payslips and reports available online through a secure cloud portal.
Who we work with
Most of our clients are small and growing UK employers with between one and fifty staff, from one-director limited companies to nurseries, care providers and construction firms. We also run payroll on behalf of accountants and bookkeepers who would rather not run payroll in-house.

Why outsource payroll to a bureau?
Payroll rules change every April. In 2026 alone, employers had to deal with day-one Statutory Sick Pay, new minimum wage rates and updated student loan thresholds, and mandatory payrolling of benefits in kind arrives in April 2027. A bureau keeps on top of that for you, spots problems before they reach your staff, and gives you a named team to call when something unusual comes up.
